The training aimed to enhance officials\u2019 skills in\ndeveloping targeted messages, managing communication, and prioritizing\ndifferent stakeholder groups.<\/span><br><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-789150d elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"789150d\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-b1be836\" data-id=\"b1be836\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c51350a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"c51350a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The session was led by Mr. Philip Dornyo, the Greater Accra Resilient and\nIntegrated Development (GARID) Project\u2019s Communication Specialist. He provided\nan overview of GARID\u2019s Social Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) strategy,\ndetailing ISD\u2019s role in content review, validation of SBCC materials, and best\npractices for effective information, education, and communication (IEC)\ndelivery. Mr. Dornyo emphasized that the training would enable ISD officials to\neffectively convey the GARID Project\u2019s phases and potential impact to local\ncommunities.<o:p><\/o:p><\/p><p>Highlighting the significance of clear communication in project success, Mr.\nDornyo pointed out that many local interventions face setbacks due to\nineffective outreach, not because of poor project outcomes. He encouraged\nparticipants to view the training as a crucial step toward effectively\ncommunicating government policies, project objectives, and outcomes.<o:p><\/o:p><\/p><p>\u201cThe GARID Project addresses flooding challenges across Greater Accra,\nincorporating solid waste management, infrastructure improvements, and enhanced\nservices for communities along the Odaw River Basin,\u201d Mr. Dornyo explained. He\nunderscored the importance of the Interjurisdictional Coordinating Management\nCommittee (ICMC), which oversees the project across 17 Metropolitan, Municipal,\nand District Assemblies (MMDAs). He noted that one of the major challenges to\nsuccessful project implementation has been a lack of understanding of the\nproject\u2019s components.<o:p><\/o:p><\/p><p>With the rainy season underway, Mr. Dornyo urged ISD officials to inform\nstakeholders about the project\u2019s objectives and ongoing efforts to reduce\nflooding risks. He commended several assemblies for effectively utilizing\nallocated funds for desilting and drainage clearing, encouraging others to\nadopt similar proactive measures.<o:p><\/o:p><\/p><p>The workshop concluded with a practical session where participants\ndemonstrated their public messaging skills.
