LaDMA Acquires 1,700 Desks for La Schools

The La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly on Monday May 23, 2022, distributed 1,700 school desks costing Gh 600,000.00 to all the 63 public schools in the municipality. Some the beneficiaries’ schools included the Forces Senior High Technical School, South La Estate Junior High School, Osu Home Junior High School, La Bethel, and Salem Junior High Schools.

Making the presentation to the schools, the Municipal Chief Executive for La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly Hon. Solomon Kotey Nikoi said that the furniture was purchased from the assembly’s Internally Generated Fund to address the furniture deficits militating against the schools in the municipality.

Hon. Solomon Kotey Nikoi said it is the responsibility of the assembly to address infrastructure deficits and create a serene eco-friendly atmosphere to ensure better teaching and learning in all the schools within the municipality. Hon. Solomon Kotey Nikoi urged corporate institutions operating within the enclave of the municipality to support the assembly to deliver a healthier coaching and learning conditions to the schools.

The Municipal Director for Education of LaDMA, Ms Habiba Kotomah said 59 basic and four Senior High Schools were to benefit from the furniture distribution. She was grateful for the support received from the assembly to the schools and said the schools will make good use of the furniture.

Ladma BECE results improves in 2022

The La Dade Kotopon Municipality (LADMA) has recorded a significant improvement in the 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results. The municipality has moved up the ladder of performance compared to the previous year.

According to the released results, the pass rate in the LADMA municipality has improved significantly compared to the previous year. The pass rate increased by 20%, with many students achieving excellent results in core subjects like English, Mathematics, and Science.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of LADMA, Hon. Solomon Niikoi, expressed his delight at the improvement in the BECE results, attributing it to the efforts of the education directorate and the hard work of the students.

Hon. Niikoi emphasized that the improvement in the BECE results is a clear indication that the various educational interventions put in place by LADMA are yielding positive results. He also urged all stakeholders in the education sector to continue to work harder to improve the performance of students in the municipality.

The MCE encouraged students in the municipality to take their education seriously and work harder to achieve better results in their future examinations. He also assured parents and guardians that the LADMA assembly would continue to invest in the education sector to ensure that students in the municipality have access to quality education.

CONFLICT MANAGEMENT

As part of government effort to address conflict in the country, assembly members and selected senior staff from the La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly was trained on conflict management in the Eastern Premier Hotel.

The training was to equip the participants the skills needed to handle conflicts in their electoral areas and the municipalities.

Participants were taken through Alternative Dispute Resolution, Communication Skills and good working relationship to win the public support in addressing conflicts.

The three days training was facilitated by Taschol Consult from Thursday March, 25 2021 to Saturday March, 27, 2021.
