ladma intervenes to safe children from domestic violence

The La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly (LaDMA) has taken a proactive step towards addressing the issue of domestic violence in the municipality, with a particular focus on protecting children from such violence. This move comes on the back of recent reports of an increase in domestic violence cases in the municipality, with many children being affected.

As part of its efforts to tackle the issue, LaDMA has partnered with various organizations and stakeholders in the municipality, including the Department of Social Welfare, the Police Service, and civil society organizations. The partnership aims to identify and provide support to families and children who are victims of domestic violence.

The LaDMA Department of Social Welfare has also set up a child protection desk, which is tasked with providing counseling and support to children who have been victims of domestic violence. The desk works in collaboration with other stakeholders to ensure that the needs of the affected children are met.

Speaking about the initiative, the Municipal Chief Executive of LaDMA, Hon. Solomon Niikoi, noted that the municipality is committed to protecting the rights of children and ensuring their safety. He further emphasized the need for collaboration and support from all stakeholders in the municipality to effectively address the issue of domestic violence.

The initiative has been welcomed by residents of the municipality, with many expressing appreciation for the efforts of LaDMA and its partners in tackling the issue. It is hoped that the initiative will contribute to the reduction of domestic violence cases in the municipality, particularly those involving children, and promote a safe and secure environment for all residents.
