The Municipal Chief Executive of the La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly (LaDMA), Hon. Alfredos Nii Anyetei, has held a stakeholders’ engagement meeting with residents of the New Lakpana Electoral Area to discuss plans for the construction of new drains and road infrastructure.
The meeting, which took place on Monday, 16th February 2026, at the Emmanuel Methodist Church, La Gonse, brought together community members, traditional authorities, opinion leaders, and assembly officials to address the persistent drainage and flooding challenges affecting the area.
The engagement formed part of the Assembly’s inclusive governance approach, aimed at strengthening collaboration with residents and key stakeholders to find sustainable solutions to infrastructure deficits within the municipality.
Addressing Infrastructure Challenges
Addressing the gathering, the MCE, Hon. Alfredos Nii Anyetei, announced plans for the construction of gutters and road networks in the Gonse enclave, covering communities from Base 222 to Ashi We. He emphasized that the proposed interventions are expected to significantly improve drainage flow, reduce perennial flooding, enhance accessibility, and improve the overall living conditions of residents.
“This project represents a major infrastructural milestone and a long-term solution to the challenges faced by this community,” the MCE stated. He assured residents that the Assembly is committed to executing the project to the highest standards.

MP Assures of Strong Collaboration
The Member of Parliament for the La Dade-Kotopon Constituency, Hon. Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, also addressed the gathering. She assured residents of strong collaboration between the community, the Municipal Assembly, and technical officers throughout the project’s implementation.
She stressed the importance of community participation in the planning and implementation stages to ensure transparency, local ownership, and sustainability of the projects. “Your input is vital to the success of this initiative, and we are committed to working hand-in-hand with you every step of the way,” the MP said.
Community Voices and Recommendations
During an open forum, residents shared their experiences with seasonal flooding, property damage, and health risks associated with poor drainage. A resident, Madam Jessica Ashitey, appealed to the Assembly to consider engaging community members for the routine desilting, cleaning, and maintenance of gutters to ensure the long-term effectiveness of the infrastructure.
Suggestions were also made for the Assembly to officially notify affected clan houses and property owners whose structures may be impeding water flow along the proposed drainage alignment.

Technical Briefing
The LaDMA Works Engineer, Mr. Okpoti, provided detailed explanations of both short-term and long-term interventions being planned to address the drainage situation. He assured participants that all concerns, suggestions, and feedback raised during the meeting would be carefully reviewed and acted upon within the Assembly’s operational framework.
Conclusion
The meeting was well attended by residents, staff of the Assembly, and opinion leaders, who expressed appreciation to the Municipal Assembly and the MP for the engagement and responsiveness. Participants underscored the importance of continuous dialogue and active community involvement in decision-making processes to ensure effective and sustainable development outcomes.
The engagement reaffirms LaDMA’s commitment to inclusive governance and its determination to address critical infrastructure challenges facing communities within the municipality.
