Ladma prosecutes sanitation offenders

The La Dade Kotopon Municipal Assembly (LaDMA) in its quest to promote good sanitation practices embarked on an intensive house-to-house sanitation inspection exercise. The exercise was aimed at identifying unsanitary conditions in various homes and ensuring that households kept their surroundings clean.

The inspection exercise, which was conducted over a period of several weeks, involved a team of environmental health officers who visited different households within the municipality. The officers carried out a thorough inspection of each home, checking for any unsanitary conditions such as overgrown weeds, uncollected garbage, and open drains.

The exercise revealed that a significant number of households within the municipality were not adhering to basic sanitation practices. About 76 households were prosecuted for failing to keep their environment clean, as they were found guilty of various sanitation offenses.

Some of the offenses for which the households were prosecuted included dumping of refuse in unauthorised places, allowing their surroundings to become breeding grounds for mosquitoes, and failure to keep their surroundings clean.

The LaDMA expressed its commitment to ensuring that the municipality was kept clean and healthy for its residents. The assembly urged households within the municipality to take sanitation seriously and keep their surroundings clean to prevent the outbreak of diseases and other health hazards.

The LaDMA also encouraged residents to report any unsanitary conditions they observe in their communities to the relevant authorities. The assembly emphasized that a collective effort was required to promote good sanitation practices within the municipality.

In conclusion, the house-to-house sanitation inspection exercise conducted by the LaDMA is a commendable initiative aimed at promoting good sanitation practices within the municipality. The assembly’s decision to prosecute households that fail to keep their environment clean is a step towards ensuring that residents take sanitation seriously. It is hoped that with continuous efforts by the LaDMA and active participation by residents, the municipality will become a clean and healthy place for all.
