LaDMA: Six Young Entrepreneurs Received Support

The Ghana Enterprises Agency, in partnership with the MasterCard Foundation, an international non-governmental organization, has provided support to six young entrepreneurs in the La Dade-Kotopon Municipality with start-up kits, enabling them to pursue their dreams in their chosen vocations. Madam Mame Adofo, the district project coordinator of the Ghana Enterprises Agency, shared this information with the District Economic Development Committee during her update on the outcomes supervised by her.

According to her, the six individuals were among the 21 young people trained by the GEA in various artisanal programs under the project named ‘Young Africa Works’ in 2021. She mentioned that the trainees received certificates, tools, and equipment to establish their businesses. With this support, the recipients are expected to achieve financial independence. Madam Mame Adofo also confirmed that the remaining 15 beneficiaries would receive their support upon the completion of their training.

She highlighted that since its establishment in 2016, the foundation has supported 49 countries, shifting its focus to Africa in 2018 through its Young Africa Works strategy. She continued by stating that in 2020, the foundation approached the GEA with the Young Africa Works strategy for a ten-year period, extending to 2030, with three core strategies: business acceleration to fast-track the growth and productivity of small-scale enterprises, innovative, creative, and entrepreneurship (ICE), and apprenticeship to entrepreneurship (A2E).
