The disbursement ceremony, held on Thursday, 31st December 2025, at the forecourt of the Municipal Assembly, was conducted in accordance with the Guidelines for the Management and Disbursement of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) for Persons with Disabilities.
The event was attended by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Alfredos Nii Anyetei; the Municipal Coordinating Director; Heads of Departments; representatives of disability organizations; beneficiaries; and other dignitaries.
Remarks from Officials
In her welcome address, the Head of the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development, Madam Paulina Mensah, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving the welfare of PWDs and other vulnerable groups. She noted that the 25th batch marks the second disbursement exercise held in 2025 and urged beneficiaries to make prudent use of the support to improve their socio-economic conditions.
The MCE, Hon. Alfredos Nii Anyetei, in his remarks, emphasized the importance of the exercise, revealing that he had rescheduled an official trip to personally attend the programme. He encouraged beneficiaries to use the funds and equipment for their intended purposes.
“Although the amounts may seem modest, they are sufficient to serve as start-up capital for income-generating ventures,” the MCE stated. He further stressed the need for accountability, noting that many other qualified applicants are still awaiting support.
The District Representative of the Ghana Federation of Persons with Disabilities, Mr. Anthony Adarkwa, also addressed the gathering. He appealed for future disbursements to be organized promptly upon the release of the DACF and reminded beneficiaries that monitoring visits would be conducted to ensure the appropriate use of the funds and items received.
