The Hon. Municipal Chief Executibe Of La Dade Kotopon Municipal Assembly (Ladma)On The Construction Of Drains At Vredes-Mantiase

On Thursday, May 18,2023, the Municipal Chief Executive for the La Dade Kotopon Municipal Assembly, Hon. Solomon Nikoi Kotey, engaged the residents of Mantiase community within Mantiase/Tse-Addo Electoral Area as part of his routine engagement with the good people of the Municipality. The purpose of the engagement was to interact with the residents on general issues and delved on sanitation and drainage issues affecting the community.

He informed the people that to improve the drainage system, the Assembly through the support from Greater Accra Resilient and Integrated Development (GARID) would be constructing drains through Mantiase to prevent perennial flooding. He stated that the Government of Ghana led by H,E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo is much concerned about improving situations, saniiation and drainage system therefore, he and his team are working assiduously to guarantee  human safety, peace and security.

The residents among others observed that, the poorly designed drainage system which is susceptible or prone to clogging with debris has contributed greatly to the issues of flooding in the area and therefore the proposed construction works should consider the design of the drain to be able to contain the volumes of rain water that come from upstream and homes through to the sea.

In response, the Works Engineer, Physical planning Officer, Urban Road Engineer and other Senior members of the Assembly who were at the meeting took turn to address the audience.

The concerns and observations made by the residents were addressed. The Municipal Works Engineer indicated that, designs for the drains to be constructed had already taken into consideration their plight.

The Hon. MCE, technical officers and residents after the deliberations toured the stretch where the drains would be constructed to have firsthand information and to appreciate the enormity of the challenges the residents face any time it rains.

The residents expressed their gratitude with the development and thanked the MCE and the Assembly for the proposed project.
